Botswana miracle…and…goodbye beautiful country

Lily and I leave Beautiful Botswana tomorrow for Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. We have enjoyed our heavenly stay at Chobe Chilwero…a lodge that overlooks the Chobe River…(Chilwero means place with a view..high spot)…our view is dreamy overlooking Namibia.
On last evenings boat ride on the Chobe, hippos and elephants treated us to a theatrical display we were astounded by…and while Lily was clicking away….her camera battery ran dry.Returning to our room she realized that, unfortunately, ..she had left her camera battery charger at Stanley’s Camp (aka: the middle of nowhere). Shit. Ok…so we worked through the details…talking about how it was the end of the trip…looking at the glass half full…at least it wasn’t the camera, right?…I still have my camera, so it’s cool…..and so on….
At breakfast, I let the manager of our lodge know that we had left something in our room at Stanley’s…literally a sentence. Cue the miracle…When we returned from our morning game drive after seeing a lioness, hippos…yadadada….we sat down to lunch. Me, glass of rosé in hand. Lily, a coke….and the manager arrived with a kraft paper package with our name on it. Inside….yup, the charger. Lily regained use of her camera….and human kindness reigned in our hearts today at the thought of how many souls had to work together to return this insignificant piece of plastic to us. I know when I return, my customer service details are going up a notch or three thanks to that example.
Ok…so the next story is this: While we are incredibly excited to return home to our sweet, little Dorset, our days here have been blessed, blessed, blessed. Lily had her first spa massage today with me by her side enjoying an overdue rubdown..and a two hour mani/pedi…in a…treehouse…with the sounds of hippos and beautiful bird songs in the distance… thanks to our spa angel who surprised us with this indulgence. See the before pic of my feet…not cute…but they are MUCH better now. And we also went on our final and last safari (11 game drives, 3 boat trips, 1 elephant walk and 1 JB concert, which I’m considering a safari…) returning back to the lodge with heavy hearts because we will be leaving tomorrow for the last leg of our journey…Vic Falls. Adding a new word to the trip: TRUST
Trust in animals, trust in human kindness, trust in love, trust in the universe. I am so at peace…but also know that God put me on Peace Street for a reason.20130515-220151.jpg
